Motivated by this great experience and as a university faculty, my current focus is to establish novel solutions for manufacturers to become more competitive by boosting their productivity, robustness, responsiveness, and sustainability.

I joined IAC in 2018 and it was an amazing experience of learning and working with a great team, to help multiple different small-scale industries around the Chicago area. We understood their processes and equipment and recommended ways to improve their energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. This experience helped me in polishing my skills and learning new ones. A few of them being team collaboration, technical knowledge of industrial assessment/energy auditing, industrial processes, presentation or soft skills, and management. I am thankful to the entire IAC team for giving me this opportunity and would want to be connected and help in the future as well.

I had the opportunity to be a part of the IAC from May 2019 to Dec 2019, while pursuing my master’s in energy engineering. This experience has been one of the best educative experiences of my professional career where I got to implement the knowledge I attained through coursework in the field and learn about the differences. I also learned working in a team with other individuals who are passionate about working towards similar goals. The experience of writing reports with personalized action plans and making presentations to the clients has been memorable and beneficial in many ways.

I worked at the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) for 18 months during my two-year master’s program at UIC. My experience from my time there has played in a big role in my career after graduation. I had the opportunity to work and collaborate with other engineering majors on several energy assessments and got to present our findings to associates and working professionals. An opportunity to work in such a client-facing role so early in my career not only helped sharpen my technical knowledge but also my soft skills. Ahmad Peyvan specializes in developing numerical schemes for the simulation of
multicomponent turbulent compressible flows. He is highly skilled in
programming with Fortran MPI, Python, and MATLAB. He has long-time
experience in simulating HVAC systems, such as radiant heaters and ventilation
systems, along with PID controllers operating in confined spaces using
ANSYS/Fluent and ANSYS/CFX.

Strong background in thermodynamics and more than three years of experience in
industrial assessment center makes him an expert in analyzing gas-consumed
equipment such as boilers, HVAC systems, furnaces, economizers, and oxidizers
to reduce energy consumption.

I joined IAC as one of the very first students in January 2017 when the program was just getting restarted at UIC. The experience that I gained at IAC has helped me grow as an engineer and a professional. Having assessed multiple small to mid scale industrial facilities, I got an understanding of the mechanical systems, the daily operations of the facilities, and various energy conservation measures. It was a privilege to work with a great group of students and professionals. This experience helped me gain multiple professional skills; some of them being the technical knowledge of the mechanical systems, leadership, working with a team, industrial assessments, presentations, technical report writing, and client meetings. I am really grateful for this opportunity that was given to me which played a big role in my professional development.

I attended UIC for my Master’s in the Energy Engineering program. I did my Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from NED University of Science and Technology (Pakistan). I have three years of working experience as a Project Engineer in the steel manufacturing industry. I started working at the Industrial Assessment Center in May 2021 and my key role was to analyzee the energy consumption of different industries and recommend potential energy efficiency and pollution saving measures.

A native of Mumbai, India, Janik graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering following it up with Masters in Energy Engineering.

He joined IAC in February 2020 and has been working on industrial assessments and analyzing utility bills and usage patterns. Helped to determine energy-saving opportunities with detailed calculations of costs, performance, and payback.

In his free time, you can find him trying to cook different dishes, go on hikes and camping, and playing Playstation or watching football.

I worked at IAC during a few summers when I was studying at UIC, which turns out to be one of the most educative, collaborative experiences in my professional life so far. Working in teams with other engineering majored students on those industrial assessment projects, we received technical training in assessment protocols and safety acquired engineering skills in energy efficiency evaluation and management, and gained practical knowledge on directing the U.S.manufacturing towards enhanced energy efficiency.
